As the tittle written right up there, is going to be my issue for today. Don't worry this entry is not going to be too boring to read about. I'm just going to share some of my experience in wearing it. Yeah that's true! I'm on that treatment at this moment.
Tadaaa Ni laa RA tu
Please don't ever mention *you tak malu ke share gmbar RA you? Eeeuw eeuw geli. I tell you meh dah kalau you dental student tak ada maknanya nak geli-geli
Okay back to our story,
Removable Appliance is appliance which can be remove for cleaning by the patient or for adjustment by the orthodontist and these appliance can be taken out of the mouth by the patient when required. It's called as RA for short.
I don't start with orthodontics department yet to explain everything in here about RA but this is just based on my experiences.
I started this treatment when I was in semester 1 (19 y/o). At that time, I never came across with RA thing ya know. I thought it's for people who wearing braces. But I was wrong. It doesn't fixed to braces patient. It could be for patient without braces but depends on your teeth alignment and etc. From there the Doctor will decide whether you suitable or not to wear.
I'm on this treatment by one of my senior. He's now in final year (year 5 student) so back when I started the treatment he was in year 4. I still remember, on the day where I went to the Klinik Rawatan Utama (KRU) back in Shah Alam with my roommate Aida to check on our teeth with the specialist there. My intention was just to check whether I'm suitable for braces or RA but haven't decide to go on with the treatment or not. Then the specialist said that I'm under RA.
This is the picture of me and Aida when we were 2 weeks entered Dentistry (look at my teeth)
Next couple of weeks, I attended my first appointment. He done the procedures. Only my upper teeth suitable for the case but not my lower teeth. Braces is the only solution to fix my lower teeth cause it kinda packed (no space). Well i'm totally not ready for braces at the moment. So I just decided to go on with the RA. It took 2 or 3 appointments until the RA is created. I think it was the forth appointment when I got it. The RA has been not activated (tighten) yet but I wore it to make myself get used to it. Cause it actually burdensome. Meaning that it makes me hard to speak *pelat for sure. Only Allah knows how I feels.
And I have to take it off every time I want to eat (stress ya know) cause mine cannot contact between teeth (Occlude), every time I've to present, and playing basketball. Alaa you guys don't have to worry because diff people diff design of RA. There's my friend yang tak perlu bukak pun. Sometimes, I forgot to pakai balik because too often bukak benda tu. The next meeting was time to activate. I still don't feel the pain during the day but it was extremely pain at night. Maybe because my teeth start moving. The peak of pain is when i'm going to put it back at my teeth. Its like electricity has been flowing all over my head.
Had to face these electric kinda of pain after every appointment. Nahh Sokay it took only 2 to 3 days and I don't feel it no more. Ohh yeah there is one time I lost my RA, time tu I lepaks with my bestfriends at the Seoul Garden. I put it inside tissue and straight into my handbag. Unfortunately, time tu jugak la my sister call that I had to take out my RA yang inside tissue tu and put it on the table.
Deng deng deng I terlupa nak letak balik that thing inside my bag and balik terus. Time dalam kereta and it's already jauh. I tiba-tiba rasa macam something missing dekat mulut. I always feeling full inside ma mouth and now I feel free. Right away looking for their contact number in the internet and call. BooM ! After penat ber-debate mintak tolong dorang cari and stuff. Poor thing is, they had to search for it dalam tong sampah. =.=' and they couldn't find it anyway. Tapi pun takkan nak pakai benda yang dah dalam tong sampah tu kan.
Now the thing was ... I'm clueless and otak pun ligat berfikir. What should I say to my Doctor about it. Gosh! He shocked as well! Then I kene fine because I lost it. I don't mind, it was my fault! Careless. Starting from that incident, just every time I take it off, I'll immediately put it inside the retainer box. *seriously it still stuck on my head.
Now i'm about to enter semester 4, and the treatment about come to an end. Neyy, now I experienced it myself before I get it done towards my patients.
Here some pics to share :
This is when I went to Langkawi
Progression of my teeth
This is my senior who did it. All thanks to this guy! Dr Ariff Ashyraf.
p/s : RA is diff than retainer. In RA there are active components that will move the teeth
while for retainer it will only retain the teeth.
That's all. Thank you for reading .
